7 Strategies I Use To Increase My Blog Traffic (I Bet You Can Too!)

Today, I decided to share with you some of the effective methods and strategies I am using in my blog. The strategies that I’m sharing with you require patience and hard work for implementation. Of course, they are easy. It’s not what the common bloggers commonly suggests to do. Let me put some effective sure-fire strategies to get real-time success in blogging.

Methods for Rankings and Traffic

1 – Long blog posts works for everyone, believe me.

Length of the blog post matters a lot in blog posts, Google is ranking long, insightful posts higher than those blog posts with a shorter length. As with the introduction of Google knowledge graph, the importance of the length of the content has become important.
Other advantages of lengthy content are:
1. It is easy to target, multiple keywords throughout the post and thus rank for multiple keywords.
2. We can include more internal links throughout the content.
3. Possibility of being indexed in Google in-depth articles, and thus getting loyal readers, who love more content.
4. Rank higher, and double your chances of ranking in the first page of SERPs.
There is no doubt that blog posts with great insightful content increases your blog’s search visibility in SERPs. The results may not be observed if yours is a new blog, it may take some time. However, once the blog post ranks for the keyword, there is no chance of a drop in rankings.
We can say that long form content is beneficial for long time. Content length is the sure-fire formula for getting high exposure and rankings.

2 – Quality blog posts

I think I need not stress the importance of quality content. I know all of you ABT readers are already tired of blog posts that stress the importance of quality. However, no blog post is complete without stressing the importance of quality content.
A site with optimized quality content is given more credit than other sites, it is better if you made your site content interesting for human traffic. Google algorithm will find out if a site is beneficial to the human user. Google algorithm will determine how much time a user spends while visiting a site based on different search queries. If a site is visited often and user likes to visit it again, its ranking stays better due to decrease in bounce rate and increase in click through rate.

3 – Include LSI keywords instead of keyword stuffing

Victim of keyword stuffing? No worries, it happens to the best of us. So use LSI keywords. So, what are LSI keywords? Keywords related to the main keyword is called LSI keywords. Let me make myself clear to you now.
Take an example, you are writing a post on “Google Plus and its benefits”.  For this topic, LSI keywords may be hashtags, G+, communities, just all terms related to it.
Instead of including the main keyword throughout the post and be a victim of keyword stuffing, include LSI keywords throughout the post, which may look natural.
Chaitanya wrote a nice guide on using LSI keywords you can read here.

4 – Diversify anchor texts

Anchor texts are the texts that come in links. For example, in subscription button “Subscribe now” may be an anchor text, which leads you to the subscription page.
Like this while obtaining backlinks, do not include the large number of exact anchor texts, it may look unnatural. Some of the examples of diversified anchor texts are “Post title (exact match)”“this post”“click here”.
Keeping the same anchor texts for a single post gives an impression to Google that you are indulging in the bulk backlinks scheme or black hat practices. Writing blog posts focusing on SEO, link, rankings, rather than focusing on quality content leads to these problems. Be natural.

5 – Target a keyword

I know that with the ineffectiveness of the Google keyword planner and extinction of Google Adwords keywords tool, it has been never easy to find and implement effective keyword.
So it’s now the time to make use Google suggest. I don’t tell you to head over to Google search, type in and look for suggestions.
There is an awesome tool called UberSuggest that gives you never ending list of Google suggestions for a keyword. You can make use of this tool, make a list of surefire long tail keywords and put them in the Keyword planner for search volumes and competitions. This is one of the effective free ways. I am also using this to find worthy long-tail keywords.
If you want premium, WordTracker is the best of all.

6 – Regularly update your site

Loyal readers of your blog expect quality content from you very often. So in order to keep them from visiting and alerting Google about your blog, it is necessary to publish QUALITY posts more often. If you got a blog, keep it updated and post regularly, write quality content and do not forget to get customers or users’ feedback.
Keep the posting frequency between 3-4 times a week. Frequency is less important than quality. If you have extraordinary quality, unique content, then posting 2 times a week is enough. But you know…

7 – Make use of bold and italics

Typography matters a lot. Readers tend to love great content with great typography. The majority of readers are speed-readers, to stop them from doing so, use speed breakers, like bold and italic texts. Italize sentences like conversations and bold important points.
This also helps attract the readers and improve your blog’s typography.

Conclusion

So, above are the strategies I am using in my blog, and my blog is responding very well to these strategies. Implementing these strategies in your blog will surely lead to your blogging success, but it may take some time to get results. If you are a newbie and followed all these strategies, I can assure that you will stand out of the crowd within a year or 6 months. As with anything hard work and patience is important.
I’m sure you have liked this article. Please make those static share buttons, dynamic.
Which methods are you using to increase your blog traffic? I’d love to hear from you in comments!

How To Upgrade AdSense Hosted to Non-hosted Account

upgrade adsense hosted account

The leading advertisement network Google Adsense has changed its policies for the Adsense account approval.
Earlier, getting AdSense account approved was very easy. All you needed was to apply for AdSense through blogspot or youtube and use it on any other websites you want.
That was very easy process but people started misusing it. After getting AdSense they started using it in low quality and spamming blogs.
So, Google decided to make a big change to their AdSense policies as mentioned in their official blog. There are now two types of AdSense account. The first one is AdSense hosted account and the second on is non-hosted AdSense account.
Here’s the difference between AdSense hosted and non-hosted account.

What is Adsense Hosted Account?

AdSense hosted account is the one that is approved by partner sites of Google such as Blogspot, YouTube or HubPages. So if you have an approved account from there, it will be known as Adsense Hosted Account.
what is adsense hosted account
When you want to publish their ads to the non-hosted website i.e yourblog.com, then you are required to submit the request to upgrade your account from hosted to non-hosted.
Getting approval of hosted account is comparatively easy to the normal account. In this type, you do not have your own domain.
You have to go through the proper application procedure and place the desired website’s URL to the show ads on your website.

What is Adsense Non-hosted Account?

AdSense non-hosted account is the one which you can use on any website that you own even if your account is on domains like .com, .net or .org.
However, getting a non-hosted Adsense account is not that easy anymore because many people tried to trick AdSense to get approved so they changed the policies. You have to fulfil all the requirements of AdSense to get approved.
When you apply for the normal Adsense account, you are required to have the quality blog or website which is according to AdSense requirements. Their team will review your account manually.
You need to get the approval before you start placing your ads on other websites otherwise your ad place will appear white. In case, if you don’t get the approval from Google AdSense. You can always try back until you finally get approved for the non-hosted account.
Here I’ll show you how to upgrade your AdSense hosted account into non-hosted. Make sure that to read my post on things to do before applying for AdSense.

Done.
Google will manually review your application. It can take few days or week.

What to do if the application is disapproved?

You’ll get an email about approval or disapproval. Even if your application is rejected, don’t worry. You will be able to use Adsense on hosted sites like Blogspot or Youtube. You can always try again and again until you get approved
You can also try other ad networks. I recommend Infolinks and Bidvertiser.

Why You Should Comment on Other Blogs?

As a blogger we have got lot of things to do (posting, research, social media, videos, link building, etc…) and we don`t find time to check our own blog comments. Then, why to comment on other blogs?

Commenting on other blogs, benefit you with lot of things! Here I have listed few reasons Why You Should Comment on Other Blogs?
comment on other blogs

Making Your Presence in Blogosphere

To attract customers or investors to your business you need to make your presence in the market, and this rule sticks to every business. In blogging world it is done by commenting on other blogs. Well, you all knew this does`t mean just adding few sentence but some worthy comment to attract readers to your blog.
Selecting your niche blogs is very important. Unfortunately few blogs say that niche is not important just getting link is important. I must say that for them, user is not important only robots are important!
Lets say that you have a blog on environment and you are commenting on SEO niche blogs. Yes, you will get a link but do you think when a user clicks your link will he/she be ready to read your posts?

To gain Gain More Opportunities

One of the easiest way to attract readers, traffic and guest posting. When you comment on other blogs on regular basis then you will come to know bloggers personally and this will make them to visit your blog and support your blog with guest posting.
I don`t say that blog commenting is the only way to get guest bloggers. This is one of the easiest way to get the work done.

Backlinks, Backlinks!

backlinks
Yeah, now we came the most important thing getting backlinks. Backlinks is important, as based on this you will improve your SERPs. Blog commenting gets you lot of niche related backlinks. Some of the blogs give dofollow links which is very important for SERPs.
Most of the blogs use comment luv plugin which not only gives you a dofollow link but also anchor text! Try here commenting on blogs which use premium comment luv plugin.
But as as I discussed above getting backlinks is not your only goal. Remember that you need to impress readers who read your comment.

To Keep Yourself Up-to-date

One more benefit that you get when you comment on your niche blog is that you will get to know more latest info from other bloggers. Lets say, that you have a blog on affiliate niche then by commenting on other blogs you may come to know about latest update from Google (that using nofollow for affiliate link is recommended).
This is one of the easiest way that I think you can keep up-to-date. Any newbie can try this, all he/she has to do is regularly comment on blogs.

Building Your Community

Discussing (commenting) on other blogs regarding your niche can make many newbies and other bloggers to click your link and follow your blog posts. And this helps you to build your blog community. Where you can easily release new offers and giveways for your readers.
Building community helps you in many ways like when you write your first ebook you can take feedback from them and improve accordingly. This will increase more advertisers for your blog.
Most of the bloggers even after knowing the importance of blog commenting don`t try it seriously. Hope this post will make us to think about it and take blog commenting seriously.

Your Turn!

There are lot more benefits of commenting on other blogs. Do share your views on Why You Should Comment on Other Blogs?  here in comments. :)

Facebook: Join in Groups.. Promote yourself out there.. BTW facebook alone is giving me 100+ leads daily (even without promoting everyday!). Ammar Ali is also getting huge traffic from Facebook ;) . So don’t neglect bringing Facebook traffic to your blog.
You may find it difficult in the beginning but when you start promoting others content and when you get to know each other on Facebook, it becomes very easy!

Never assume that you can bring quality traffic without much efforts.
You need to differentiate yourself with others to become successful. It takes time to create content, I agree but you shouldn’t spend whole time creating only normal or average 600 words posts.
Spend time to create great content.
Write detailed posts with 1000 or 1500+ words once in a while. If you’re not a full time blogger like me, at least try to create detailed posts once or twice a month.
So that you can grab others attention and you can show your blogging expertise to your readers.
It’s really important for you to create killer articles regularly to survive in blogosphere. This can bring your quality traffic from other sites or search engines.

4. Don’t forget SEO

Most people say forget about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) when you’re just starting out.SEO TACTICS

I think that’s the dumbest suggestion!

You need to focus on what keywords to use and how much keyword density you should maintain in your content to get search engine traffic to your blog.
It’s extremely important to bring organic (search engine) traffic to your blog. Because it’s free and highly effective!
Make sure that you’re not keyword stuffing your content. It makes your readers hard to digest what you’re saying in your articles.
And do proper keyword analysis before you’re writing the articles. Then embed them into your posts. If you’re a beginner then this is enough! Don’t go beyond, you’ll better understand about SEO when you’re spending more time on blogging.

Conclusion:

Always try to retweet and promote your fellow bloggers before asking them to promote your content. This can make others to promote your content sooner or later and you will have high chances of getting their attention if they find it useful.
I dint recommend guest blogging here in this post. Major reason is without having any online reputation you can’t cope up with other bloggers to get accepted your guest posts. When they reject you, you’ll feel down to submit another guest post to them.
So, focus on building a network by blog commenting, writing great stuff and social media networking using above tips.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR APPLICATION IS REJECTED?

Okay, so you had done trying everything you could to get approved by AdSense.
But, AdSense is still not getting approved.
Well, It’s not the end of the world! ;)
There are two things you can do:
#1: Don’t lose hope. Take your time to fix the issues on your blog that is mentioned by AdSense in rejection email and apply again. Remember, if you are disapproved, you can apply again and again until you finally get approved by Google AdSense. There’s no issue with that. Just use the same email account that you used for the first time.
#2: There are many other trusted and high paying ads network you can use and trust me they are not hard as Google AdSense is in terms of getting approval. One door of opportunity is closed so the other one will open.
You can use these ad networks to earn money without AdSense. They are easy to get approved.

1. Infolinks

Infolinks is the leader in in-text advertising which offers 70% revenue share even if you’re a newbie blogger. It is different from other advertising networks. It takes less space because it shows in text ads or pop up ads. You can use it with Adsense safely.
It is a pay per click. They offer advertising options like: insearch ads, intext ads, inframe ads, intag ads.
  • Alexa Rank: 2571
  • Min payout: $50
  • Payment method: PayPal, Wire Transfer, eCheck, Western Union, Payoneer

2. BidVertiser

BidVertiser is another top alternative to Google AdSense which pays you for valid clicks on ads placed on your website. It is great Adsense alternative if you didn’t get Adsense approval or got banned. Bidvertiser offers Banner ads, Text ads, Mobile Ads, Slider ads etc. You can also make money by promoting your customized toolbar.
  • Alexa Rank: 892
  • Min payout: $10 only
  • Payment Method: PayPal, Checks

3. Media.net

Media.net is probably the best alternative to AdSense as it’s powered by Yahoo Bing Network. I’ve tried Media.net few years ago and the average CPM was much better than any other AdSense alternatives. Media.net ads are quite similar to Google AdSense and it’s very easy to get approved if you’ve a quality blog.
  • Alexa Rank: 5132
  • Min payout: $100
  • Payment Method: PayPal, Bank wire

THINGS TO DO BEFORE APPLYING FOR ADSENSE

THINGS TO DO BEFORE APPLYING FOR ADSENSE

1. Write High-Quality Content:

The #1 thing you need to do before applying for Google AdSenseis to write high-quality content. This is very important thing which you can’t ignore at any cost. I mean it!
Google loves the blog who are providing high-quality content and their visitors are enjoying it. Keep in mind that your application will be reviewed by humans and you have to impress them to get approved by AdSense.
A high-quality content…
  • is unique and original
  • with proper headings and bullet lists
  • free from grammar and spelling mistakes
  • is long enough
  • useful and informative
Helpful resources:

2. Create Privacy Page for Your Blog:

One of the common mistakes that most new bloggers. Even though there are people out there who say that having a privacy policy for a blog doesn’t make sense but they are wrong!
The first thing you will need to apply for Google AdSense and get approval is the privacy policy of your blog or website. If you don’t have it you cannot get approval simple is that.
Why is it important?
It’s requirement of AdSense and secondly, this privacy policy means you are not a scam and gives the sense of a serious business. Google will check the rest of the conditions only if you have this policy.
A privacy actually describes to your readers about what they will get on your blog , what they should do and what they should not. So obviously there is nothing bad in having a privacy policy. While it can affect somehow on your AdSense approval, you must give it a try.
You can write it yourself or find Privacy Policy Generators online (You don’t need a lawyer anyway).
Helpful guide:

3. Create About Page:

Like privacy policy, you must have an about page so that you can get approved. This also shows that there is a real person behind the blog.
An About page has a major role and importance even if you don’t want to apply for AdSense. But when it comes to AdSense, they are about zero chances of getting approved if you are not showing this page.
About page simply describe you and your blog . This will not only help you establish a relationship with readers but it will also make them trust you.

4. Setup A Contact Us Page:

It’s quite obvious that everyone has his/her own opinion.
What one of your readers likes may be bothering someone else. Then it is better to give them an opportunity to speak up to you and tell how they feel about your blog, what they want to be edited , what they liked or hated.
Create a contact page, if possible add your email that you are going to apply for Google AdSense. If possible do get some professional email address like ammar@allbloggingtips.com and your social profile links too.
By creating this you are telling Google that we care for our customers, visitors and we are ready to help them. They can contact us anytime.
It will also show the Google AdSense Team that is viewing your site that you actually care about your readers and not only the money and AdSense.
One important step: Google AdSense mention in their rejection email that your website should have a clear navigation menu to help your readers find your pages and access the content before you think about applying again for AdSense.
So, what you’ve to do is to work on your menu by adding all important categories and pages i.e about us, contact us and privacy policy to help your readers easily find the content that they are looking for. The more you care about improving your visitors experience the higher chances will be to get approved by AdSense.
Here’s an example to illustrate this point.
add important pages to adsense

5. Verify Your Name and Email:

When you apply don’t forget to put your name and email address in some easily visible area like about and contact pages. It will confirm to Google AdSense team that it is the same person who applied for AdSense and not some spam, crappy bots.
This will speed up the verification process and within no time, you’ll be able to enjoy fully approved AdSense account.

6. Have Some Good Number Of Posts:

What should be the minimum number of posts before applying for Google AdSense? There is no confirmed answer.
Not even one.
Because I have seen very established blogs with 300+ posts and their owner telling me that Google AdSense is rejecting them while somewhere bloggers with few posts or even less than 10 are enjoying making money with AdSense.
Exactly, what I said that there is no actual answer. However, we can always predict things.
According to my experience, the best time to apply for AdSense account is when you have at least 20 good quality posts. Your blog posts length should be at least 600+ words with quality content.
Dillon got his AdSense account approved with just 3 posts, 115 views, and 2 comments. Isn’t that great?
I visited his blog and noticed these things that actually matters to get Adsense approved.
  • Simple and clean design
  • Easy to navigate blog
  • Unique niche
  • Detail content
  • No “unwanted” widgets
minimum requirement for posts

7. Make Sure You’re 18+

This is the mistake that new bloggers are making who are less than 18. They write incorrect age and get into trouble.
Use your correct date of birth and age while applying for Google AdSense account.
Because Google AdSense is not for people who are under 18. Some people realize this problem after being disproved a few times without any legitimate reason.
So I advise you to be accurate while typing your age.

8. Improve Your Blog Design:

As mentioned earlier, you blog design matters a lot. It should be professional and not like a messy photo gallery. A clean, professional and fast-loading design is appreciated by Google.
When you visit a website what’s the first thing you look for? It’s blog design.
You’ve to build a good first impression on your blog readers to engage them.
Your blog design is the biggest thing after content. This represents your expertise, experience, and professionalism. It should have following features:
  • Simple and professional
  • Easy to navigate
  • Proper menus
  • No useless items in sidebar or footer
  • Search engine friendly
  • Fast loading
So be careful because anything can kill your chances of getting approved by AdSense.
There are thousands of websites who provide free professional looking themes for your blog. All you need to do is to search for them.
If you’re on WordPress self-hosted blog then I recommend getting a premium theme.
And if you are still using blogspot then there are many great websites where you can find free professional looking blogger templates for your blog.

9. Check Your Content Type:
Be careful with what type of content you are publishing. Because it is something that truly matters.
Here are some common content types that are not accepted by AdSense.
    • Pornography/Adult materials
    • Pirated Content
    • Hacking or Cracking Tutorials
    • Illegal Drugs/Paraphernalia
    • Any Other Illegal Stuff
    • There are few languages that are supported by AdSense so make sure your blog language is in the list of these.
AdSense supported languages
Google AdSense team mentioned in one of their forum posts that they stopped accepting niches that are already saturated i.e making money, marketing, website and SEO stuff. You can read more here.
Please-review-my-site-for-Google-Adsense---Google-Product-Forums
If you already have written about these content that AdSense doesn’t support, you can either stop dreaming about AdSense or get rid of these content.

10. Use Top Level Domain:

Google has made changes to their policies. If you have a blog with blogspot and the domain isyourblog.blogspot.com then chances are you will get approved quickly.
But you will not be able to use that on any other domain like .com. You’ll have to submit the request to upgrade your AdSense account.
As for today, you must have your own unique domain that specifies your blog. If you don’t have one yet, stop dreaming about getting approved with sub domains and go buy a Top Level Domain. It will cost anywhere from $10-$15/year. You can buy the domain from Godaddy or Namecheap.
The best domain is the one with .com extension. Choose a short, unique and easy to remember domain that is related to your blog niche.
Another important thing about the domain is its age. Because for some of the Asian countries like India, AdSense has placed domain age restriction. They don’t accept any sites which are less than 6 months old.
There are many AdSense stories that I read on many forums that some people got approved for few weeks old blog and other got rejected for the blog that is even more than 6 months old. So age doesn’t really matter when you have a high-quality blog that’s focus more on helping your visitors.
If you’ve a website that is less than 6 months old then you can still consider applying for AdSense.
Shibam got accepted by Google AdSense with 28 posts and a 6 months old blog. He managed his blog from mobile only.
shibam adsense approved

11. Remove Other Ad Networks:

If you have any other ads placed like Chitika, Infolinks, Clicksor or anything, it’s time to drop them off.
Make your blog free from ads.
Even Google AdSense allows you to use other ad networks along with them, it’s better to remove the ads before applying and don’t put them back until you get a reply from AdSense team which usually takes anywhere from few days to weeks.
So, before submitting your application for Google AdSense make sure to remove all the ads on your blog from any other network.

12. Check Your Traffic Sources:

Google hates the sites that are getting paid traffic and mostly penalizes them so there is not a damn chance of getting approved by AdSense for a site that is getting paid traffic. You can bring traffic from search engines or any other way you want but if you want to earn via Google AdSense the right way, paid traffic is not a solution.
Also, note, that Google does not accept site which gets traffic from illegal sources. So focus on getting traffic from legal sources like social media, search engines, and related blogs.

COMMON ADSENSE REJECTION REASONS

Here are the most common rejection reasons and Google AdSense requirements that you should keep in mind before we get into details.

1.  Insufficient content / Unacceptable site content

Your website doesn’t have enough text on for Google specialists to review.
Google gives a lot of value and attention to the content of the blog before accepting it. If the content is poorly written and has grammatical mistakes Google will reject the blog right away.
Not only the content needs to be grammatically correct, it must be unique and has to provide value to the users and readers of the blog. So the number one reason is the poorly written content on your blog.

2. Page Type / Design of your blog

What will you do if you land a page with full bright yellow background with white text on it, having huge buttons all over the place?
Blogs which are poorly designed and are hard for the visitors to understand gets rejected by Google AdSense. You must have a good and neat design which comforts the eye and is beautiful in the look.

3. No Privacy Policy, About Us or Contact Us page

There are some pages which you must have before applying to Google AdSense if you want to get accepted.
These are about us, privacy policy and contact us pages. These pages give the impression that you are a professional and that you are working according to the Google policies. Keep in mind that having a privacy page is also one of the requirements for Google AdSense.

4. Site Does Not Comply With Google AdSense Policies

No rich, unique and meaningful content, no organic traffic, pages with little to no original content or bad user experience through clear navigation and organization.
Your website may be the one that drives traffic through illegal sources, sites with excessive keywords or poorly coded design are usually rejected.
So you need a complete guidance and list of things that you need to do before applying for Google AdSense.

WHY GOOGLE ADSENSE IS SO POPULAR?

WHY GOOGLE ADSENSE IS SO POPULAR?
